Watford Partnership

Led by Parmiter’s School, we provide exceptional teacher training for graduates and career changers who have chosen to become teachers.

In partnership with the University of Hertfordshire, we offer School-Based Teacher Training and Assessment Only routes into teaching. Mentor allocation and training is robust, drawing upon the expertise of Herts for Learning and the University of Hertfordshire, alongside our experienced teaching colleagues in Partnership schools.

The Partnership has considerable prior experience of training teachers and recognises and values the enthusiastic contribution that they make to our school communities. Staff at the training schools share their knowledge and good practice to ensure that trainees are well-supported to develop the skills to become excellent classroom teachers.

School-based Teacher Training placements are full-time with four days in school and one day at The University of Hertfordshire. Placements start on 1st September each year.

Training takes place in two contrasting school settings and is supported by experienced in-school mentors and university-based tutors. We pride ourselves on the in-depth range of professional development opportunities that are included within the Watford Partnership, which includes two clear routes of professional development, professional studies and subject studies. These programmes are in place to complement the training provided by the University of Hertfordshire.

All Watford Partnership Primary and Secondary teacher training courses are run and accredited in partnership with University of Hertfordshire.
